Both keratin and Hair Botox are smoothing treatments, but they work differently and suit different hair concerns. Keratin is primarily a frizz-control and smoothing treatment — it coats and seals the hair cuticle using protein, significantly reducing frizz and cutting drying time. It is best suited to hair that is frizzy, coarse, or humidity-sensitive.

Hair Botox is a deeper conditioning treatment that focuses on moisture, repair, and volume reduction. It fills gaps in the hair shaft caused by damage, restoring elasticity and softness without the same level of smoothing power as keratin. If your primary concern is frizz, keratin is typically the stronger choice. If your hair is severely dry, brittle, or over-processed, Hair Botox may be more appropriate. A professional keratin treatment at Elaris typically lasts between three and four months, depending on your hair type, wash frequency, and the products you use at home. Fine hair and hair that is washed daily may see results fade closer to the three-month mark; thicker or coarser hair often holds the result longer.

To protect your investment: use sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner, avoid swimming in chlorinated or salt water without a protective cap in the first few weeks, and minimise heat styling as much as possible — the smoother your hair already is, the less heat it needs.
