Highlights — foiled, brighter, more uniform
Traditional foil highlights take small woven sections of hair and saturate them with lightener in foils. The result is brighter, more uniform, and faster to apply than balayage — but the regrowth line is more visible after 8–10 weeks. If you want maximum lift (true blonde from a brunette base), foils will get you there faster.
Ombre — graduated colour, base to ends
Ombre is a horizontal gradient: darker roots transitioning to lighter ends, with the transition typically starting at the ear or below. It’s a stronger statement than balayage and has a higher “this is dyed hair” energy. Less popular at Elaris than balayage by a 5-to-1 ratio, but it suits some hair types and personalities very well.
